Ganpati Bappa Morya

Welcome to the Lights and celebrations amidst the welcome of the Greatest hindu God of Strength, Peace, Valour, Appetite and Values and Geniousity. Ganesh chaturthi has been by far the most relatively celebrated and sourced as the highest major gathering Festival amongst the few found in the World.

Although he is known by many other attributes, Ganesha's elephant head makes him easy to identify. Ganesha is widely revered as the Remover of Obstacles and more generally as Lord of Beginnings and Lord of Obstacles (Vighnesha, Vighneshvara), patron of arts and sciences, and the deva of intellect and wisdom. He is honoured at the beginning of rituals and ceremonies and invoked as Patron of Letters during writing sessions. Several texts relate mythological anecdotes associated with his birth and exploits and explain his distinct iconography.

That brings about the bookish meaning of Ganesh. Lets look at a more detailed vision about the Festival and also about the Ardent Followers of the Lord.

The incident places way to new levels of water pollution and the related effect to the Arctic and the Pacific Food Cycle which in turn affects the Asiatic Eco-cycle. Sounds too zoological...?? Let me explain, The more the Idols, the more the pollution .i.e. more the calcium, magnesium, molybdenum and silicon concentrations increased significantly, More dust due to Plaster.Of.Paris and many other pollutants, killing the Water inhibitants leading to disturbance of Eco-Cycle. Just Mumbai’s sea takes in about 1.5 lakh (1 lakh = 100,000) idols every year! Is it any wonder then then oxygen levels in the water bodies fall by about 50 per cent immediately after the 10-day Ganeshutsav festival?Refer The Links for more references!

An amazing excerpt statement by the on-looker statement: As I continued my search in the streets of Pune, I came across many idols-made of materials as varied as PoP, Silver, Tin Foil and Thermocol, but not the green Ganesha. That’s what I was looking for..an idol made of clay and a pandal that used eco-friendly materials…I must have walked for at least 20 km, clicking hundreds of pix on the way. I could not find a single idol made of clay, nor a pandal which didn’t use the papi materials – PoP and Thermocol.

The option before the onlookers and the government is nothing but to control the traffic at most of the times and try to save dying people and children if at all in the same polluted water during the immersion. The fact remains that at this point as the blog rightfully states “we need a law and not necessarily wisdom or self-understanding” ‘cause trust me, we don’t have either and we still expect the Lord of Wisdom and Remover of Obstacles to help us get the brains to have some of those as well.
